The debut

Having worked in start-ups and having worked on products in big companies, but getting an internal funding of sorts, I'm always looking for opportunities to both fine tune the product strategy of my day job and to help/mentor others to ensure that some common mistakes are not repeated. I mentor, at a personal level and on personal time founders of two companies based in Bangalore. The first one is an IT start-up where I help the founders to set-up some metrics for their business and later help evaluate business proposals, reviewing opportunities etc., against those metrics. The second one is more a conventional brick and mortar company into electrical works and networking. Here, I help them with their IT strategy and ocxassionally advice them on project management. But for both these companies I help them with my reasonably good network to make important connections.

I was thrilled, in this backdrop, when I was invited as a mentor for IBM smartcamp. I have shared my experience in my general blog Facilitating Impact. This event was my debut into the formal world of mentoring entrepreneurs and boy, I enjoyed. IBM though believes this is just a begining and would be getting in touch with me for the next steps.

I have a long-term goal of converting myself into full time professional mentor advising both entrepreneurs and VCs.
